The region of Northam is located in the eastern part of Western Australia, around 97km northeast of Perth. It is part of the Wheatbelt region and covers an area of 1,948 square kilometres.

The major town in the region is Northam, which has a population of around 7,000 people. Other towns in the region include Toodyay, Bakers Hill, Grass Valley and Wundowie.

The region is known for its beautiful natural scenery, with rolling hills, farmland, forests and river valleys. Visitors to the area can enjoy bushwalking, birdwatching, fishing and camping.

The Avon River flows through the region, and is the site of the annual Avon Descent, a 124km kayaking and white-water rafting race.

Agriculture is a major industry in the region, with wheat, barley, canola and oats being the main crops grown. The area is also home to a significant sheep and cattle farming industry.

The region has a rich history, with evidence of Aboriginal occupation dating back thousands of years. European settlement began in the early 1800s, and many historic buildings and sites can still be visited today.

In recent years, the region has seen an increase in tourism, with visitors attracted by the natural beauty of the area and its many outdoor activities.
